Innolux is eyeing the medium to large-size capacitive touch panel market, and plans to set up 4.5G and 5G touch panel production lines, Taiwan-based Cando will convert its 4.5G color filter line to a capacitive touch panel production line amid surging demand for notebook touch panels,according to the company.Medium to large-size touch panel production line is increasing

Current capacitive touch panel makers including Innolux Display, Wintek and TPK Touch are using 2.5G production lines, which are more suitable for producing small-size panels. Only Cando's 3.5G line and Sintek Photronic's 5G production line are producing medium- to large-size capacitive touch panels, market sources added.

The sources said that worldwide notebook touch panel demand is estimated at 500,000 units per month in 2009 assuming they have a penetration of 5% in the notebook market with an estimated size of 130 million units for the year.

In order to meet the surging Medium to large-size touch panel demand,medium to large-size touch panel production line will be mainstream.
